UIS Alumni SAGE Society
The Alumni SAGE Society is a group of University of Illinois Springfield/Sangamon State University alumni, friends and faculty and staff, ages 50 and better. The group offers opportunities for Service, Action, Growth and Enrichment, as alumni and friends connect and reconnect with one another and the University community.
SAGE activities and events support the University and its units and educate, entertain and inform; all activities are open to the public. As an affiliate of the University of Illinois Alumni Association, the group is directed by a volunteer leadership committee of alumni and retired UIS faculty. Activities include:
- Volunteer support of campus welcome-week activities
- Assistance with Homecoming activities
- Staffing assistance at UIS Commencement
- Answering the phone during WUIS fall and spring fundraisers
- Preshow dinners before certain performances at Sangamon Auditorium
- Support of UIS students as mentors and role models and providing connections with the Springfield community
- Lifelong learning classes and lunches
- Preservation of campus history and support of the Brookens Library archives through legacy and oral history projects
- Advocacy for education through Illinois Connection
The SAGE Society Coordinating Committee welcomes friends and guests to its activities and encourages alumni to become involved with the group by contacting the Office of UIS Alumni Relations at 217/206-7395.
Along with the donated time and talent of alumni and friends and fee-based events, the UIAA's Sustaining and Life Membership program provides significant financial support for these activities. Gifts in support of UIS Alumni SAGE Society activities may be made at the UIAA's Make a Gift page.
