I’s on the World: Brac-ish Waters

Oh, the places we go … University of Illinois alumni are globetrotters who travel near and far, but never forget their Alma Mater!

Oh, the places we go … University of Illinois alumni are globetrotters who travel near and far, but never forget their Alma Mater!

Cruising the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Croatia, the Kuhlman and Hayden clans—Joe Kuhlman, ’87 LAS; Denette (Cashman) Kuhlman, JD ’90; Victoria (McCleary) Hayden; ’91 ENG, MUP ’96 FAA; Blake Hayden, a sophomore in the Gies College of Business; and Dan Hayden, ’91 LAS—enjoyed the sites from the bow of The Mama Marija. They moored in the harbor of Bol on the island of Brac that day. Brac is home to a tennis stadium that seats 2,000—more than the population of the island itself!

“We walked the beach, sampled the local wine and took time to fly our Illinois flag. Little did we know that the world would be shut down just months later due to the coronavirus pandemic,” Joe says.
