Join LAS Alumni for a inspiring evening of discovery, friendship and breathtaking views of Chicago’s skyline at Adler Planetarium.
The LAS Alumni Association and the Dept. of Astronomy invite you to an exclusive event where you will dine under the stars, explore exhibits about our solar system and NASA’s Captain James Lovell’s mission to the moon, attend a stimulating show in the Sky Dome, and be inspired by Illinois’ Astronomy professors and their discoveries.
The evening will begin with a reception and visit to Adler’s exhibit, Mission Moon. Here you will experience America’s first steps into space through the eyes of NASA’s Captain James A. Lovell Jr. Next you will wonder through the Welcome Center to the Sky Dome, where you will enjoy a planetarium show and meet Executive Dean Brian Ross and Astronomy Dept. Head Brian Fields. You will learn about the latest discoveries made by Illinois’ astronomy team. During dinner, you’ll be captivated by the panoramic view of Chicago from the Skyline Solarium. You will end the evening with a stroll through the Our Solar System exhibit, where you can touch a piece of the moon and chat with Astronomy professors.
This event is sponsored by the LAS Alumni Association and supported by a generous gift from The Katherine Walker Endowed Fund. Ms. Walker was a loyal and dedicated LAS Alumna who served as president of the LAS Alumni Board of Directors from 1996-1998.
