College of LAS Presents: Fusion of Food and Culture

Join the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences for an extraordinary dining experience at Sunda, an award-winning restaurant featuring America’s new Asian cuisine.

The afternoon will kick off with a reception featuring a signature drink created by Sunda owner and alumnus Billy Dec ’95 LAS. Billy is an Emmy Award winner and television personality, attorney and CEO/founder of Rockit Ranch Productions. He will present a mixology demonstration, share his signature drink recipe and tell us about his experience serving on President Obama’s White House Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.

Following the reception, attendees will enjoy a lunch featuring a modern twist on Filipino and Southeast Asian culinary traditions, meet LAS’ new dean, Feng Sheng Hu, who will share the latest news about the college, and hear from Martin Manalansan, head of the Department of Asian American Studies and author of “Eating Asian America: A Food Studies Reader,” who will enlighten you about the fusion of Asian culture and food.

The program will end with prizes and a salute to the Department of Asian American Studies’ 20th anniversary.
