Young Alumni: Live in Iceland – Airwaves Music Festival

Iceland Airwaves Festival is the world’s most northerly music showcase festival featuring acts ranging from the unknown, to the up-and-coming, to international headliners. For the 22nd year Reykjavik’s bars, clubs, bookshops and theaters will become the setting for this unique event. The winter solstice, with only a few hours of sunlight, makes for a music lover’s unmatched experience. You’ll also have the opportunity to see the Northern Lights, discover Iceland’s most famous Golden Circle natural treasures, rugged coastlines, magnificent bird cliffs, delightful people, incredible waterfalls, erupting geysers and tectonic plates. Then take a plunge into the steaming hot mineral lagoons. This is an adventure that you don’t want to miss.

November 6 Reykjavik

The ‘Golden Circle’ tour is one of Iceland’s most popular day tours as it includes three of the best known attractions. The waterfall Gullfoss is one of the most impressive waterfalls in Europe with thousands of tons of icy water thundering majestically into a deep canyon. The Geyser area has numerous hot springs and geysers, including the famous Strokkur. Pingvellir is the site of the world’s oldest democratic parliament founded in 930, and the beautiful canyon running through the park is the dividing fault line between two of the earth’s tectonic plates. Take a plunge into a natural hot spring pool at the Secret lagoon, surrounded by geothermal spots and a small Geyser that erupts every few minutes. The pool is constantly fed by a hot spring replenishing the water and keeping the temperature around 100F. Refreshed, we return to Reykjavik in search of the next up-and-coming musician.
