William Henry Zumsteg

Lt. Zumsteg served with the 767th Bomber Squadron, 461st Bomber Group, Heavy. A Liberator pilot, he served in the Infantry and in the communications and airborne service before entering the Air Force. He received his pilot’s wings in June, 1943, and went overseas in January, 1944. He was killed in action over Yugoslavia on April 2, 1944. Lt. Zumsteg is buried at Plot C Row 11 Grave 21 in the Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium. He earned the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
