The Big Picture: Alma Mater restored

Following a nearly two-year absence for a complete restoration, the beloved icon returned to campus April 9, prompting cheers, chimes (from nearby Altgeld Hall) and even an on-site wedding proposal. In the well-received makeover, Labor’s muscles ripple, Learning shows her curls, and Alma offers a serene and gentle face. As to the proposal—Brittani Brogdon ’12 AHS said “yes” to Jon Wardell ’11 LAS. A video of Alma’s removal shown here, and an in-depth look at the restoration can be found here.
