Sgt. Dippold enlisted on July 19, 1944, at Springfield, Massachusetts. He served with Company E, 394th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division. His Division crossed the Rhine on the bridge at Remagen, Germany, under heavy enemy fire. He was most likely killed in this crossing. He is buried at Valley View Cemetery, Edwardsville, Illinois.
