Lt. Dasso served with the 535th Bomber Squadron, 381st Bomber Group, Heavy. He was a pilot of a B-17 bomber (Flying Fortress), having made 23 bombing raids over Germany before his plane was cut in two by a falling plane that had been shot down above him. He died in the subsequent crash, his 24th mission, on May 24, 1944, though two men in the tail section survived. He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands, Plot O Row 9 Grave 3, next to his brother, Eugene Edward Dasso. He was awarded the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters and Purple Heart.
