Major Dalton served with the 9th Armored Division. He died in Luxembourg of wounds received the day before during the Battle of the Bulge when he manned an American tank single-handed to save men at a command post trapped by two German Tiger tanks. Major Dalton is buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, DC.
