Flight Officer Dickenson was with the 868th Bomber Squadron, Heavy, when he disappeared over New Guinea as he was starting on a rest leave to Sydney, Australia. He had completed 13 missions with U.S. Army Air Forces. He is listed as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea on the Tablets of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines. He was awarded the Air Medal.
