Lt. Hembrough was a B-26 bombardier-navigator with the 9th Air Force in France. He was reported missing in action over Germany. His plane, with two others, was shot down by German fighters. Overseas since October, 1944, Lt. Hembrough had received the Air Medal. Lt. Hembrough is buried at Diamond Grove Cemetery, Jacksonville, IL. His remains were interred in June, 1949.
