A proud tradition of service 🇺🇸 Since our founding, Illini have answered the call to serve, with over 9,000 in WWI and 20,000+ in WWII. During both World Wars, service banners were displayed in homes, shops, and offices, with blue stars for each person serving. At the Illini Union, banners held gold stars to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This historic photo reminds us of their courage and legacy.
