38 things we love about Illinois: No. 38
38. Engineering Open House
A harbinger of spring, UI’s two-day Engineering Open House—or EOH, as it is called—draws thousands of students and community members to a realm unlike any other, where engineering ingenuity enhances the illusion of technology intermingled with magic. In addition to a Beckman Institute open house, student exhibits—some 250 in all—abound across the engineering campus. There are plenty of prizes, too, including the Go Green Award. Past exhibits have ranged from robot competitions to race-car driving simulators to a “zoo” of non-Newtonian fluids. Not to be missed is Friday evening’s Tesla Coil Concert, “an electrifying display of light and sound” on Bardeen Quad.
