I’s on the World: Spanish Sojourn

Oh, the places we go … University of Illinois alumni are globetrotters who travel near and far, but never forget their Alma Mater!

Modern buildings in downtown Madrid form the backdrop for Sarah Goldberg, ’16 LAS, as she stands framed by an ancient limestone archway in Parque del Buen Retiro, a 320-acre public park originally built as a retreat for the Spanish royal family. The archway was moved to the park in the early 1900s as part of the remains of Ermita de San Pelayo y San Isidoro, a Romanesque Catholic church that originally stood in Ávila, Spain. An intern for a Madrid recruitment firm, Goldberg plans to return to UI this fall to pursue a master’s degree in human resources and industrial relations.
