“I”s on the World: Orange and Blue ahoy!

Oh, the places we go … University of Illinois alumni are globetrotters who travel near and far, but never forget their Alma Mater!

Oh, the places we go … University of Illinois alumni are globetrotters who travel near and far, but never forget their Alma Mater!

Illini sailors proudly display their Orange and Blue on the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson. Lt. Mark Ryan, ’08 LAS, DDS ’12 UIC, Lt. Cmdr. Justin Fitzjarrald, ’02 LAS, MPA ’05 UIS, and Cmdr. Neil Krueger, ENG ’97, flew their flag while off the coast of Hawaii during July naval exercises.

Ryan recalls that his time at Illinois instilled him with confidence in what he could achieve. He misses sitting in the “I” Block during football games, late-night munchies (Pokey Stix and 2 a.m. burritos from La Bamba) and crisscrossing the Main Quad to get to classes. Fitzjarrald says he misses fall football weekends, the changing seasons and Murphy’s Pub.
