Lt. Reichert served with the 875th Bomber Squadron; 498th Bomber Group, Very Heavy; 73rd Wing Group; 20th Air Force. He was killed when his airplane went down 5 miles north of Saipan. He is listed as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea on the Tablets of the Missing at Honolulu Memorial, Honolulu, Hawaii. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart. There is a headstone marking his death at the Pleasant Plains, Illinois cemetery family plot.
