John Harrison Buckley

Lt. Buckley was a crew member on a B-29A Superfortress Bomber with the 344th Bomb Squadron, 98th Bomb Wing. On August 30, 1952, while on a bombing mission, the aircraft crashed four miles north of Taegu, South Korea. All twelve crew members perished. His remains were recovered. Lt. Buckley first served in World War II and was trained as a navigator and flew 25 combat missions as a member of the 486 Bomb Group, Eighth Air Force, based in Sudbury, England. After World War II he graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, GA in 1948. He was recalled to active duty in the Koren War. Lt. Buckley was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
