Radio Operator Mills served with the 100th Bombardment Squadron, 42nd Bomb Group as a Radio Operator/Gunner. He was in the Battles of Guadalcanal and New Guinea. He was killed in action in New Guinea on his 45th mission. He earned the Air Medal with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters. R/O Mills is buried at Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Illinois.
