Technician Ricketts served with the 121st Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron. He drowned in the Wolfgang Sea near Strobl, Austria. His platoon of the mechanized cavalry had liberated the King of Belgium and his family and were guarding the monarch when Ricketts was killed. Technician Ricketts is buried at Plot D Row 38 Grave 25 at Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avold, France.
