Lt. Brett served with the 577th Bomber Squadron, 392 Bomb Group. He was a naval bomber pilot shot down over Japan. He was captured by Japanese forces and held as a Prisoner of War until his death while still in captivity. Before being transferred to the Pacific, he had served as a fighter pilot in Europe. Lt. Brett entered service in September, 1942. He is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, Section 82 Site 1E.
