University appoints Fighting Illini athletics director
University of Illinois Interim Chancellor Barbara Wilson has named Josh Whitman, ’01 BUS, JD ’08 LAW, the Fighting Illini’s 14th permanent director of athletics, pending approval by the UI Board of Trustees. In nearly six years as an athletics director at two universities, Whitman’s teams have earned four national titles, 24 top-five team finishes and 34 conference championships.
Whitman will be introduced to campus on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. The news conference will be broadcast live at www.fightingillini.com.
