Trip Itinerary:

Shannon, Ireland | Ennis

Days 1 & 2
Arrive at Shannon Airport and meet your AHI Travel representative, who will accompany you to Old Ground Hotel in Ennis. Upon arrival, learn about Ennis’ unique history on a walking tour through town. From tales of banshees to the famous local witch, hear how this area is steeped in legend, folklore and mythology. Later, for a Welcome Reception and Dinner in your hotel. Then enjoy a traditional Irish music and dance show.

Cliffs of Moher | Ennis

Day 3
The Cliffs of Moher, a UNESCO Global Geopark, sit on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. Marvel at this stunning coastline of dramatic cliffs, sea caves and inlets, and revel in the sweeping views of the Aran Islands and Galway Bay. Tonight, listen as Eddie Lenihan, a premier folklorist/seanchaí, relates tales of folk heroes, mythology and the supernatural in the time-honored style.

Aran Islands | Ennis

Day 4
Ferry across Galway Bay to rugged Inishmore, the largest of the Aran Islands, where Gaelic is the language of choice and ancient stone walls crisscross the land. As you explore the island on a minibus, listen as your local guide tells entertaining stories about life on this picturesque island, where Gaelic is the first language. See the most famous, Dun Aengus (Dún Aonghasa) and take a walk up to the fort (if you wish). Next, visit the home of a local musician and sip a glass of wine while listening to traditional songs and musical lore.

Ennis | Killarney

Day 5
Depart for Killarney. On the way, stop in Listowel for lunch. Continue to the national park, an oasis of oak woodlands and shimmering lakes. Sit back, relax and appreciate nature’s splendor as your jarvey, or driver, leads you on a horse-drawn carriage ride and shares local lore. Afterward, cruise across the serene Killarney Lakes, three connected lakes.

Ring of Kerry | Killarney

Day 6
Located on the Iveragh Peninsula, the circular drive of the Ring of Kerry is among the most beautiful coastal drives in the world. Meet a local shepherd, who will demonstrate, with the help of loyal border collies, how to move sheep around a pasture. Stop for lunch in Waterville, followed by a drive through the villages of Caherdaniel and Sneem. Tonight, enjoy a whiskey tasting and musical performance.

Dingle Peninsula | Killarney

Day 7
Head to Ireland’s westernmost tip along majestic Slea Head Drive, where emerald fields stretch down to shorelines edged with jagged summits and soaring cliffs. Many consider this gorgeous peninsula a little bit of heaven on earth. Near the mainland’s edge, visit the Blasket Center which honors the unique heritage of the people who once lived on the remote Blasket Islands. After lunch on your route, get to know charming Dingle during free time.

Killarney | Dublin

Day 8
Depart Killarney for Dublin following a satisfying breakfast. On the way, stop at Adare, one of Ireland’s most picturesque villages. Founded in the 13th century, Adare boasts a colorful High Street and cozy, thatched-roof cottages, lively pubs, and independent shops. Savor a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. Arrive in Dublin and check in to the Fitzwilliam Hotel. Spend time at leisure this evening. You may wish to stroll through the city and choose one of its many restaurants for dinner on your own.

Day 9

This morning, learn how Dublin, a UNESCO City of Literature, and the country at large, have shaped poets, playwrights and novelists. Delight in Ireland’s grand, colorful capital on a scenic tour and visit Trinity College to admire the hand-illuminated, ninth-century Book of Kells. During free time this afternoon, explore this walkable city, rich with world-class museums, inventive cuisine, distinctive shops and terrific live music.

Day 10

Discover traditional Irish flavors on a gastronomic walking tour. Sample quintessential Irish dishes and taste local finger foods during your excursion through Dublin’s food scene. Then meet up with your fellow travelers for tonight’s festive Farewell Reception and Dinner. Raise a toast and tap your feet as a céilí band and dancers perform!

Depart for home city

Day 11
Bid farewell to your fellow travelers and depart for the airport in Shannon to head home.
