Edinburgh, Scotland | Falkirk

Days 1 & 2
Arrive at Edinburgh Airport, where an AHI Travel representative will meet you for your transfer to the Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa in Falkirk. Tonight, get better acquainted with your fellow travelers at a Welcome Reception and Dinner featuring a traditional haggis ceremony and a spirited performance by Highland dancers.

Stirling

Day 3

Learn about Scotland’s struggle for freedom during the Middle Ages before visiting the 700-year-old Bannockburn battlefield. Here, Robert the Bruce exploited the marshy ground to win a decisive victory in the war for Scottish independence. Later, you’ll visit beautiful Stirling Castle, where Mary, Queen of Scots, was crowned at the age of nine months.

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs | Luss

Day 4
Let the spectacular scenery of this vast national park inspire you. Today, you’ll enjoy a lake cruise, followed by a stop in the tiny village of Luss on the “bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond,” as the old Scottish song goes. Savor lunch along the lakeshore before a scenic drive through Aberfoyle and Queen Elizabeth Forest Park in the heart of the Trossachs.

St Andrews

Day 5
Delve into the fascinating period from the time of Mary, Queen of Scots, to the Jacobite Rebellions during this morning’s talk. Then, it’s off to the coast to visit St Andrews along the North Sea. Explore the ruins of its medieval castle and 12th-century cathedral. See golf’s most iconic turf, the St Andrews Old Course, where the sport has been played for more than 600 years. Enjoy free time to see more of this charming seaside town.

Edinburgh

Day 6

Set off to cosmopolitan Edinburgh for the day. On a scenic tour, get a wonderful perspective of its medieval Old Town and stately Georgian New Town. Walk along the Royal Mile to visit majestic Edinburgh Castle. In the evening, revel in the unforgettable Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo performed before the stunning, floodlit castle. This glorious annual spectacle combines regimental pipes and drums, military bands from across the globe and colorful Highland dancers.

Falkirk | Perth | Crieff

Day 7
Make your own plans in Falkirk this morning before departing for Perth. Visit Scone Palace, where Scottish kings, including Robert the Bruce, were crowned. Meander through the elegant rooms, explore the grounds and see if you can find your way out of the Murray Star Maze! Next, head to Crieff for a whisky tasting at Glenturret Distillery, Scotland’s oldest working distillery, established in 1775.

Falkirk

Day 8

This morning, discuss current issues affecting Scotland. Then, strike off to explore independently! Stay in Falkirk, visit nearby distilleries or spend the day in Glasgow. Your Travel Director can help you with your planning. As night falls, join your fellow travelers for a Farewell Reception and Dinner featuring a ceilidh, a traditional Celtic party with music and dancing.

Depart for home city

Day 9
Bid farewell to Scotland and your fellow travelers. Depart for the airport in Edinburgh and return home.
