Lt. Konikoff served with Battery B, 125th Field Artillery. He died of wounds received on the Anzio beachhead. He earned the Purple Heart. Lt. Konikoff attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, but he graduated from the University of Buffalo (New York).
