Lt. Heatter served with the 71st Bomber Squadron, 38th Bomber Group, Heavy. He was killed in action over New Guinea. He is buried at Manila American Cemetery, Plot A Row 5 Grave 200, Manila, Philippines. He earned the Purple Heart.
