Alexander (Alan) Val Mercer

Private Mercer died from pneumonia in France. He served with Headquarters Company F, 18th Railway Engineers, which included 1200 men from the Pacific Coast. He had enlisted with this group after the start of the war, although he was past draft age. His parents lived at Coos Bay, Oregon, where he is buried at Coos Bay Cemetery.
