Lt. Harrison enlisted on 26 Jan 1942. He was listed as an Aviation Cadet on the enlistment form. Eleven servicemen perished when their plane, an LB-30, was homeward bound, after a routine patrol, and crashed on Pinzon Island on 30 Jul 1942. According to a report by the Ground Defense Office, an expedition was sent to the island on 30 and 31 October 1943 and again on 1 Nov 1934. The expeditionary party had a five point mission. Part of that mission was bury the men’s remains, mark the graves, and recover personal items. According to the US National Archives and Records Administration their place of death is recorded as Galapagos. The servicemen’s remains were recovered and received at the Gorgas Hospital Mortuary in the Panama Canal Zone on 7 June 1946. They were buried in Corozol, Panama on the same date, 7 June 1948. According to interment records the men’s remains were brought back to the United States from overseas and they were buried on 11 May 1948 in the Chattanooga National Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN.
