Ensign Levy served with the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was captured on Corregidor. He took part in the Bataan Death March and was hold as a Prisoner of War at Camp O’Donnell and Cabanatuan. He was boarded on the Oryoku Maru which sailed from Manila on December 14. While at Subic Bay, the ship was attacked by American fighters from the U.S.S. Hornet. The Japanese abandoned ship but left the POWs in its holds. Many prisoners were killed. Ensign Levy’s date of death would indicate he died in the attack. He is listed as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea on the Tablets of the Missing at Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
