Officer Cyka died on Luzon of injuries received on March 9, 1946, in a vehicle accident. He went overseas soon after V-J Day, and was based at Clark Field near Manila as bombardier on a B-24 Liberator. He entered service in 1943 after attending the University of Illinois for one year. He had been in the Philippines since summer, 1945.
