Lt. Amerman served with the 419th Night Fighter Squadron. He is buried at Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines, Plot H Row 3 Grave 93. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart. More information on Lt. Amerman’s squadron can be found in the book “Night Hawks and Black Widows: 13th Air Force Night Fighters in the South and Southwest Pacific, 1943-1945” by Dr. Terry M. Mays, published by Schiffer Books and available November 2009.
