Wac Sgt. Cooper served with the Women’s Army Corps (WACs). She entered service December 21, 1942, and was flown to Accra in Fall, 1944. She was the second alumna to lose her life in service when a transport plant carrying 18 WACS and a crew of three from Accra, British West Africa, to Roberts Field in Liberia, was lost off the French Ivory Coast of Africa. The 18 WACS were the first lost overseas. She is listed as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea on the Tablets of the Missing at North Africa American Cemetery, Carthage, Tunisia.
