Sergeant Fluent was a 9th Army Infantryman. He was wounded in France on October 16, 1944, and returned to combat duty on January 5, 1945, to be promoted from Private to Sergeant. He was Killed in Action in Germany on March 28, 1945. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and the Purple Heart.
