Lt. Foster served with the 773rd Bomber Squadron, 463rd Bomber Group, Heavy. He was a B-17 navigator, killed over the Adriatic Sea on his 29th mission. He is listed as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea on the Tablets of the Missing at Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
