Ford Powell Eshleman Jr.

Lt. Eshleman was a surgeon on a destroyer, U.S.S. Drexler, off Okinawa when his ship was struck by two Japanese suicide planes while he was on duty in the sick bay. Previously, he had been a surgeon on a troop transport which landed in the Iwo Jima invasion. Lt. Eshleman was commissioned in 1941 while attending Northwestern Medical school. He is buried at the Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines at Plot A Row 12 Grave 53.
