Lt. Jarvis served with the 340th Bomber Squadron, 97th Bomber Group, Heavy. His plane went down in the Adriatic Sea. Lt. Jarvis was one of four of the crew landing in the water, but according to the one crew member who survived, the Germans on the shore nearby reported they were unable to revive him. He is listed as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea on the Tablets of the Missing at Florence American Cemetery, Florence, Italy. He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
