Captain Kelley served with the 228th Signal Operations Company. He died at Umeda POW Camp in Japan. The POWs were used as slave labor to load and unload ships. In the Philippines, he was held at Camp O’Donnell and Cabanatuan. He is buried at Plot B Row 16 Grave 140 at Manila American Cemetery, Manila, Philippines. He also has a memorial marker at Oakridge-Glen Oak Cemetery, Hillside, Illinois.
