Sergeant Friduss was a radio operator with the 614th Bomber Squadron, 401st Bomber Group, Heavy, 8th Air Force. He was a crewman on a B-17G Flying Fortress 42-107084, nicknamed “Betty’s Revenge”, piloted by 1st Lt. Alexander Harasym. Of 9 crewmen, 6 survived, Sgt. Friduss being one of the 3 who died–this was his 19th mission. He is listed as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea on the Tablets of the Missing at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands. He was awarded the Air Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters and Purple Heart.
