John Arthur Clapp

Lt. Clapp is a 1932 graduate of Proviso Township High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy with training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois; Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; and Camp Linda Vista, California. In the Medical Corps he was attached to the 3rd Marine Division. He had engagements at Battle of Bougainville and Battle of Guam. He was killed in action at the Battle of Guam. Lt. Clapp is buried at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii, Plot F Row 0 Grave 436.
