Lt. Harmon joined the Marine Corps as an aviation Cadet, but just the day before he was to have received his wings, another Cadet pilot crashed into him; threw him from the plane, and he died May 15, 1943, in Florida. Promoted Posthumously to 2nd Lieut, he is buried in College Hill Cemetery, Lebanon, St Clair County,IL.
