Staff Sgt. Califf served with the 1st Counter Intelligence Corps Detachment, 1st Infantry Division. He is buried at Epinal American Cemetery, Epinla, France, Plot A Row 14 Grave 53. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
