Mr. Beall was too old to enlist in the military, but the Navy took him as a flight instructor because he could fly. He died near Norfolk, Virginia, on a training mission with a student pilot flying the plane which experienced mechanical failure. He was interred in Arlington National Cemetery on November 5, 1942. His grave is located at Section 8, Site 6243.
