Lt. Chandler left the University of Illinois to enter the First Officers’ Training Camp at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, where he was assigned to the 10th Company. He did not finish the course of instruction at Fort Sheridan, but made application and was accepted for entrance to the Aviation Ground School at the University of Illinois where he received his commission. He was then assigend to Kelly Field, Fort Worth, Texas, as an instructor where he was killed in an airplane accident. Lt. Chandler is buried at Warren Cemetery, Gurnee, Illinois.
