Lt. Ware served with Company K, 362nd Infantry Regiment, 91st Division. He attended the First Officers’ Training Camp at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, assigned to the 15th Company. He then went to Camp Lewis, Washington, assigned as an instructor to the 316th Engineers, later being transferred to the 362nd Infantry, when his regiment sailed to France in July, 1918. After further training in France he was ordered to the Headquarters Company of the 362nd Infantry, later being placed in charge of the 37-millimeter guns of Company K. He was killed in action near Epinonville, France. He is buried at Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery, Romagne, France, Plot B Row 43 Grave 36.
