Urbana, IL
Major Shaff, a 16 year Air Force veteran, died in the crash of a military transport on which he was a passenger shortly after takeoff from an airstrip in the Binh Dinh area of South Vietnam. As a pilot, he had compiled more than 3,600 hours of flying time. Major Shaff had been in Vietnam only 10 days at the time of the accident.
