Corp. Tweedie served with the 45th Infantry. He enlisted April, 1917. He trained at Jefferson Barracks, then at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, and then on to Camp Taylor, Kentucky, where he died from pneumonia. Sources state that Corp. Tweedie was the first man to enlist in the war from Wheaton, Illinois, and the ninth man from the University to die in military service.
