Private Lowy served with the 322nd Fighter Control Squadron. He was killed when the ship his squadron was on, HMT Rohna (a British troop transport ship) was hit by a German remote controlled rocket bomb. The ship sunk in minutes. Pvt. Lowy is listed as Missing in Action or Buried at Sea on the Tablets of the Missing at North Africa American Cemetery, Carthage, Tunisia. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
