Pfc. Heinz served with Company I, 394th Infantry Regiment, 99th Infantry Division. He was killed in the vicinity of Elsenborn, Belgium, while leading a reconnaissance patrol during the Battle of the Bulge. He is buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Peoria, Illinois.
