Lt. Croninger was stationed at Manila with the Army Signal Corps. He was killed in a plane crash over Leyte Island, Philippine Islands. He entered service while a senior at the University of Illinois and was stationed locally with the ASTP (Army Specialized Training Program) before entering officer’s training. He is buried at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery, Miami, Oklahoma.
