Pfc. DeValk served with the 406th Infantry Regiment, 102nd Infantry Division. He went overseas in September, 1944. He is buried at Netherlands American Cemetery, Margraten, Netherlands, Plot I Row 3 Grave 21. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
